<p>PURPOSE:To realize efficient coding transmission by preparing plural vector patterns of predicted error and selecting a pattern with a minimum prediction error between prescribed number of input moving vectors and predicted moving vectors with respect to the prepared prediction error vector pattern and sending only the index. CONSTITUTION:A prediction error generator 4 generates sets of prediction error vectors from the plural input moving vectors stored in a memory 1 and the predicted moving vector stored in a prediction device 3 and sends the set of predicted error vectors to a matching discrimination circuit 5. The matching discrimination circuit 5 compares the predicted error vector set with the prediction error pattern stored in advance in the code book 2, selects the prediction error vector pattern with the least error, that is, least distortion and sends its index to an entropy coder 10. The entropy coder 10 applies variable length coding to the index, and sends it to the receiver side through the transmission line. Thus, the vector pattern with the prediction error closest to the set of the input moving vectors is sent in a form of the index with less information quantity.</p> |
