PURPOSE:To always obtain stable developing toner weight and to obtain a satisfactory image even under the conditions of a variation of the environment and a continuous use, etc., by controlling the developing potential in accordance with a temperature of a developer carrying body. CONSTITUTION:A developer crying body 3 consists of a resin layer whose surface is 10<6>-10<12>OMEGAcm specific resistance, a developer layer forming member 6 is pressed against this carrying body 3, and the member 6 controls a developer 4 supplied to the carrying body 3, to a thin layer of prescribed thickness, and also, provides a prescribed charge. Subsequently, the development is executed by allowing the developer 4 formed to the thin layer to adhere selectively to an electrostatic latent image on an electrostatic latent image carrying body 1. In this case, a temperature of the carrying body 3 is detected by a thermocouple 8, and by its detected temperature, the developing potential is controlled. |
