PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction of a device, by a method wherein a needle- shaped or other shape or other shape over member, which controls the operation of the device by means of an actuating solenoid connected to a power source through a switch, is mounted to the back of the gas injection nozzle at the base of a pilot burner. CONSTITUTION:During operation, a switch 14 is closed and an actuating solenoid 17 is energized and excited, and a cover member 18 is moved backward to bring a gas injection nozzle 15 into an opening condition. Thereafter, when, after a shut off valve 8 is opened and a safety valve 15 is brought to an opening position through a lever 13, a pilot burner 1 is ignited by means of an ignitor, a thermocouple 4 is operated to bring a safety valve 5 into an opening state. By feeding water through a water feed passage 7, a hydraulic responsing valve 9 is opened to supply gas into a main burner 2 for combustion. With the switch 14 opened, the actuation solenoid 17 is released from excitation, the cover member 18 is pushed by a spring 19 for forward movement, and the gas injection nozzle 15 is closed to reduce a gas amount. The pilot burner 1 is decreased in a flame or the flame disappears, the thermocouple 4 is rendered inoperative, the safety valve 5 is closed, and the main burner 2 is brought to an inoperative state. |
