This invention is an optimal soot-blowing method for a boiler which has multiple heat traps arranged along the gas flow way and uses fossil fuel. To calculate the boiler efficiency loss rate caused by soot-blowing in one of multiple heat traps of a boiler, the model of parameter ai is to be equalized. For this the time to complete soot- blowing in i-th heat trap, the overall boiler efficiency (E) at the starting poit of soot-blowing in i-th heat trap, and the boiler efficiency difference resulted from the sootblowing in i-th heat trap are measured.
