PURPOSE:To reduce noise by providing a main bearing with a flange section, and fixing said flange section with a hermetic container by means of shrinkage fit. CONSTITUTION:A main bearing 16 is formed with a long cylindrical flange section 16a the outer diameter of which is larger than the inner diameter of a hermetic container 1. The aforesaid flange section 16a is fixed within the hermetic container 1 by means of shrinkage fit. This constitution allows the outer circumferential section of a hollow section between the compression element 12 of the hermetic container 1 and the arrangement section of a stator 2 to be increased in thickness so as to enhance bending stiffness for enabling respective vibration in the circumferential and the axial directions of sections concerned to be restrained, thereby reducing noise. |
