发明名称 NONLINEAR OPTICAL ELEMENT
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a nonlinear optical element at low cost by forming an optical waveguide layer on a substrate made of aluminum by using a transparent porous oxide film 2 and a nonlinear material which seals its pores. CONSTITUTION:The optical waveguide layer 2 as a nonlinear material layer is constituted on the surface of the substrate 1 made of aluminum principally by the transparent porous oxide film 3 which is formed by an anode oxidizing method. Namely, the porous oxide film 4 consists of an upper porous part 4 and a lower barrier part 5, and the porous part 4 is so structured that hexagonal prismatic cells 7 with many pores 6 succeed in a plane. The porous oxide layer 3 is a transparent layer with an about 1.61 refractive index and can guide light and its pores are sealed with the nonmagnetic material 8. A proper material which is nonlinear and expensive is used as the nonlinear material 8 and, in concrete, MNA(2-methy-4 nitroaniline), MBA-MP, etc., are usable. Consequently, the inexpensive, nonlinear optical element with high efficiency is obtained.
