摘要 PURPOSE:To produce the title microelectrode having the tip with a smaller radius of curvature by depositing a metal atom on the surface of the tip of the electric-conductor microelectrode. CONSTITUTION:An anode 11 with the tip worked to about several mu radius of curvature is used, and a metallic wire 5 with the tip 6 worked to about 1mu radius of curvature is used as the microelectrode to be worked which is used as a cathode 12. The anode 11 and the cathode 12 are set in an electrolytic bath 13 in parallel with the liq. surface, and both electrodes are placed on the center line of the anode 11 so that the tips are opposed to each other. When an electric current is applied between the anode 11 and the cathode 12 from a power source 14 under such conditions, the metal of the anode 11 is ionized, eluted into the bath 13, and electrodeposited on the tip 6 of the cathode 12 to form an electrodeposit 7. A pulse voltage or the pulse voltage having different polarity is preferably used as the impressed power. As a result, the radius of curvature of the tip 8 of the electrodeposit 7 is made smaller than that of the tip 6 of the wire 5, and a microelectrode useful for the measurement of the electric current at a microscopic region of an organic cell, etc., or as a probe for STM, etc., is obtained.
