This invention is a sheet handling apparatus of a printer. This sheet handling apparatus comprises a hopper including an upwardly biased sheet floor, a corner restraint member, a sheet picker and a sheet carrier. The sheet floor slidingly connected with the corner restraint member in order to limit the stack size and feed a single sheet properly. The sheet picker picks a single sheet per a time from the hopper. An index motor is provided for driving a platen through a belt trained around two pulleys. All other driving connections are made through gearing.
