PURPOSE:To enable diagnosis of deterioration of an overhead transmission line under a hot-line state, by measuring the concn. of metal ions composing a steel core existing in a water drop falling through the inside of the overhead transmission line. CONSTITUTION:A steel core 1 in a steel core aluminum twisted wire used as overhead transmission line generally employs a Zn plated steel wire. As Zn composing a Zn plated layer is lower in the electrode potential at a potential difference train than Fe composing the steel wire and Al composing an aluminum strand 2, it is initially corroded with the presence of an electrolyte. Thus, after a rainfall, a water drop falling from an electric wire is recovered to perform a chemical analysis of the concn. of Zn ions in the water drop thereby enabling accurate diagnosis of the degree of deterioration in the wire. This eliminates the need for interrupting the transmission line in the recovery of the water drop thereby permitting diagnosis of deterioration at any time under a hot line state. |
