Process for the production of a flameproofed foam

A flameproofed foam based on polyurethane is produced by impregnating an open-cell foam having a uniform cell structure and containing 10-14 pores/cm, and having an air permeability of 50-150 l/min and a density of 14 to 60 kg/m<3> with zinc salts of metapolyboric acids as solid-containing carboxylated chloroprene latex in an amount of 5-800% by weight, based on the initial density of the foam, in such a way that all the cell webs and the remainder of the cell walls are uniformly and homogeneously covered or coated with the chloroprene latex containing the zinc salts.
