摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacturing and to lower a cost by forming a thin film as a non-linear element on a substrate, and providing a selection electrode and an image element electrode on the thin film at a prescribed interval. CONSTITUTION:The thin film 12 as the non-linear element is formed on the entire plane of the substrate 11. Since the thin film 12 is applied on the entire plane of the substrate 11, no mask is required. On the thin film 12, the selection electrode 13 and the image element electrode 14 are formed by using the mask, and also, pattern molding can be performed. A part of the electrode 14 protrudes in the direction of the electrode 13, and a gap with width of D1 is formed. Also, the interval D2 between the electrodes 14 is set sufficiently larger the width D1. The electrode 13 and a transparent electrode 32 are confronted and arranged so as to constitute a matrix, and liquid crystal 21 is injected between them. As a result, a current flows between the electrode 13 and a corresponding electrode 14, then, liquid crystal display is performed. In such a way, it is possible to manufacture a device by one time of masking, thereby, the manufacturing can be facilitated, and the low cost can be realized.</p>
