The support consists of high strength steel ribs surrounding a central rod formed by a polypropylene core. All the ribs are covered with protective paper bands using an adhesive, and are joined together by wires which traverse the centre of the polypropylene core and are fixed to the ends of the ribs by bending over them. The support is then dipped in a bth of molten wax to cover the joins and prevent noises and squeaks by movement when installed in seats or seat backs.
