PURPOSE:To enable prearranged printing to be performed by detecting a paper feed pitch which is selected by a changeover mechanism, and feeding paper through the driving of a printer by a paper feed command corresponding to the interval of paper feed. CONSTITUTION:Either a nine-pin system command or a 24-pin system command is selected by a changeover mechanism for printing. For instance, when printing is performed by the nine-pin system command, a changeover lever 6 is rotated to an arrow direction B to engage a large planet gear 10 with a paper feed gear 16. First, it is judged whether the selection of the 24-pin system command for paper feed by the changeover mechanism is acceptable. In this case, it is detected that the nine-pin system command is already selected, as a sensor 17 is switched ON by the lower end of the changeover lever 6. Consequently, the judgement is negative N as a conclusion. A next step is to set a mode by which the constituent parts of the printer are driven by a paper feed command corresponding to a paper feed pitch of the nine-pin system command. After this step, main processing is performed. |
