Device for shutting off gas lines, having an inflatable hose which consists of an elastomeric material and, by means of an angled-off guide part which passes through the inflatable hose, can be introduced into the gas pipe, which is to be shut off for repair or mounting work, through a bore in the pipe wall. The two ends of the inflatable hose are secured in a gas-tight manner on the guide part, and the guide part exhibits an inflation duct which leads to the interior of the inflatable hose. In order to shut off high-pressure gas lines, the inflatable hose exhibits a wall thickness which withstands an inflation pressure of up to 7 bar and increases towards the ends of the inflatable hose, the ends of the inflatable hose being secured in a gas-tight manner on rings which, sealed by sealing rings, can be displaced to a limited extent on the guide part.
