A vehicle is described which takes off from water, floats on wings and is able to use the ground effect during take-off and has at least one mainplane which is designed as a hollow body which is segmented into chambers. These chambers can be provided with flooding and draining devices and form the wings of the vehicle. The central part of the trailing edge of the mainplane, which is immersed more deeply in the water in the floating position than its outer regions, has a wedge-shaped sliding surface, which is arranged centrally between the wings which form the mainplane. The sliding surface projects beyond the underneath of the plane of the mainplane at the trailing edge of said mainplane, and runs with a slight inclination towards the front and merges flush into the plane of the mainplane. The trailing edge, which is composed of the edges of the two wings and those of the sliding surface, runs parallel to the inner edge of the mainplane. Only the corners of the trailing edge are bent, and the inclines thus formed connect the trailing edge to the wing sides and to the end plates which, in the case of tandem vehicles, connect the wings which are arranged one behind the other.
