A device for the combination of in each case one apparatus of various apparatus types to form a system, especially of video or audio systems, it being possible to connect each apparatus by means of an apparatus-specific apparatus board by means of plug connectors to a base board which operates as a bus line, and a common electronics board preventing simultaneous connection of a plurality of apparatuses of the same apparatus type and the interconnection of mutually incompatible apparatuses. The device is used in viewing consoles or demonstration (viewing, prelistening) rooms in the audio or video field, for individual apparatus selection with respect to the desired received power, tone or video quality and price bracket.
