PURPOSE:To obviate residual resin on the outer periphery of a magnet and to prevent quenching that otherwise would be caused when the magnet is cooled to an extremely low temperature, by press-winding a prepreg glass tape on formed superconducting wire for holding the same and by heating the assembly for uniting the peripheral glass layer. CONSTITUTION:Superconducting wire under tension is wound on a coil former by guiding it with an insulating spacer 6. A mold releasing sheet 4 is applied on the superconducting wire thus wound, and a prepreg glass tape 5 under tension is wound thereon. The assembly thus obtained is dried at about 130 deg.C for about ten hours, whereby the prepreg glass tape layer is united. The magnet is disposed vertically in a vacuum tank 10 and resin is injected from the bottom thereof, whereby gaps between the superconducting wire layers are filled completely with the resin. In this manner, the mold releasing sheet 4 as well as the prepreg glass tape layer 5 fits well with undulations on the outer periphery defined by the lines of the superconductor wire, and after impregnation the layers outer than the mold releasing layer can be removed completely. Accordingly, no resin is left on the outer periphery of the superconducting magnet. |
