The healds to form the loom shed, operated by electro-magnets to engage the drive according to patterning, are controlled from the patterning unit with at least one sensor according to the pattern for the running woven fabric, and is coupled to at least one electro-magnet. The sensor is mechanical, with a monitor against the fabric, or it is an electro-optical appts. An adjustable timer is between the sensor and the electro-magnet, and the gap between the sensor and the fabric beating-in edge can be adjusted. The controlled healds lie on one line in a tensed shaft frame, and the electro-magnet has a limit stop which can be extended or retracted to define the sliding path movement of the shaft frame. Where the loom is for mfg. ribbons, the sensor is at the free pattern loop in the ribbon to deliver a pattern signal for the electro-magnet to release the heald or shaft frame. This brings the pattern yarn for the patterning loop over the upper warps at the shed at the same time as the weft insertion. A fork-shaped lifter forms the loop together with a holding pin during a number of weft insertions. ADVANTAGE - The appts. gives a low-cost loom with a simple patern control.
