Title compds. (I)[X=F, Cl, Br; R=C3-8 alkyl , useful as a fungicidal agent, were prepd.. Thus, a mixt. contg. 20.8g (pchlorophenyl) hexanitrile, 34.8g methylene bromide and 50ml DMSO was treated with 24ml 50%-NaOH to give 22.6g 1-bromo-2-cyano-2-(4chlorophenyl)hexane, which was mixed with 19.0mg potassium triazole and 100ml DMSO to give 13.0g α-butyl-α-(4-chlorophenyl) -1H-1,2,4-triazole-1-propanitrile.
