PURPOSE:To obtain an air bag having good expandable and foldable properties while requiring a small housing capacity by compressing one or both sides by means of rolling, pressure pressing, etc., and making the passable air quantity and the bulk density of the base cloth above specific values. CONSTITUTION:Base cloth is formed using heat resistant and high-strength natural fibers, synthetic fibers, or inorganic fibers as the material of fiber yarn and the texture of the base cloth is filled and made close by pressure by means of rolling or pressure pressing, forming an air impermeable layer which shuts off air due to its physical effect. The passable air quantity of the base cloth is determined 5cc/cm<2>/sec or less and the value of the bulk density thereof is set to the 250g/m<2> or less. Thereby, the conventional method of coating or laminating of elastomer can be omitted obtaining a light and flexible air bag having good expandable and foldable properties while requiring a small housing capacity. |
