PURPOSE: To protect the entire area of an organ by sealing active materials into microcapsules and allowing the walls of these capsules to be ruptured by the effect of friction force or shearing force. CONSTITUTION: The preventive appliance, such as sheath for contraception, finger sack or surgical gloves, comprises two elastomer layers 11 and 12 consisting of, for example, natural rubber and one or more kinds of the active materials 13 in the form of the microcapsules, microganules, etc., are sealed therebetween. The diameter of the microcapsules is about 5 to 50μ and the thickness of the elastomer material layers is 10 to 30μ or larger in the case of the sheath for contraception. The layers are as thick as 300μ in the case of the finger sacks or gloves. The microcapsules form a matrix and their shells are made of, for example, cellulose acetophthalate, epoxy resin, etc., and contain particularly one or more kinds of products having virucidal, trichomonacidal, fungicida, bactericidal or spermiocidal properties. The force to destroy the shells of the microcapsules is acted on the appliance by wearing of the appliance or by an action, by which the active materials are released into the space formed between the adjacent elastomer layers. |
