PURPOSE:To smoothly perform data transfer between data different in floating- point expression by separating binary data into a sign part, an exponent part, and a mantissa part and directly converting them on a main storage device approximately independently of one another. CONSTITUTION:A separating part 1 and a coupling part 5 are storage areas of input data 100 in a first floating-point expression and output data 101 in a second floating-point expression on the main storage device of an electronic computer respectively, and these data area separated into three elements of sign parts S1 and S2, exponent parts E1 and E2, and mantissa parts M1 and M2 and are stored. With respect to conversion from the exponent part E1 to the exponent part E2, the pure binary expression and the m-ary binary expression are different in figure division point, and a number (k) of digits for bit shift of the m-ary binary expression is calculated from inputted data or inputted from the mantissa part, and the exponent part is obtained by calculation of a relational formula between first and second floating-point expressions. A mantissa converting part 4 is partially controlled by the number (k) of digits which is the extent of shift of respective bits of the binary expression, and conversion is performed by bit shift of the mantissa part of input data. |
