PURPOSE:To enable the detection of the end of a color ink film by a marker sensor of a printer and prevent the subsequent printing operation upon the detection, by removing an unnecessary marker at the end of the color ink film or covering the unnecessary marker with a seal or the like. CONSTITUTION:A color ink film has yellow, magenta and cyan ink parts in the printing order, and an unnecessary marker 4 is cut away so that the yellow ink part next to the last cyan ink part 3 is not detected through the marker. To complete one sheet of print, a printer causes a printing paper 6 to be repeatedly passed three times between a printing head 8 and a platen 9, while the film 1 is fed, thereby color is changed over each time the printing paper 6 is passed three times, and markers provided on the film fed from a film payout roll 7 are detected by a sensor 10, whereby color discrimination and printing are conducted. After printing by the last cyan ink part 3, the yellow ink part next to the part 3 is not discriminated, so that printing is not conducted, and the end of the color ink film can be detected. |
