NEW MATERIAL:An esterification product of polypropylene glycol with glutamic acid. USE:Applied as cosmetics for the hair or skin, having excellent hairdressing power without irritancy to human bodies and both solubility in hydrous ethanol at low temperatures and light tough and capable of synthesizing the cosmetics by substituting all or part of conventional bases with this esterification product. PREPARATION:Polypropylene glycol having <=1,000, preferably about 300-600 average mol.wt. as a raw material is treated with glutamic acid, preferably at a reaction molar ratio of glutamic acid; polypropylene glycol within the range of 1:1.1-1:2.0 in the absence or presence of a catalyst under ordinary or reduced pressure by a conventional method, such as esterification reaction. The resultant product is then subjected to treatment, such as decolorization or deodorization, to afford the aimed novel compound. |
