PURPOSE:To reduce the weight percentage of a carbon material and obtain a cell with high positive electrode utilization factor and high capacity by specifying the fiber shape of the carbon material of a manganese dioxide electrode using manganese dioxide and the carbon material as the main constituting material. CONSTITUTION:Manganese dioxide mixed with manganese dioxide powder and a carbon material with the fiber shape of the diameter 0.1-1.0mum and the length 10-100mum is used as an active material. Since the fiber-shaped carbon material has a needle-like shape, the volume for the unit weight is increased, the volume of the carbon material covering the surfaces of manganese dioxide grains is increased as much, the electron conducting network for each manganese dioxide grain is made denser. The weight percentage of the carbon material in the positive electrode black mix can be reduced because of the volume gain of the fiber-shaped carbon material. A cell with high utilization factor of the positive electrode active material and high capacity is thereby obtained. |
