A heat pump type air conditioner includes a compressor (5), an outdoor heat exchanger (1), an indoor heat exchanger (3), a 4-way valve (7) and a first expansion member (2). A bridge circuit (20) is connected between the first expansion member and the indoor heat exchanger. The bridge circuit is constituted by a first conduit (21) having a first check valve (23) and a second expansion member (24), and a second conduit (22) connected in parallel with the first conduit and including a second check valve (25) and a third expansion member (26). A bypass conduit (17) having a controlled valve (28) is arranged between a junction of the first check valve and the second expansion member and another junction of the second check valve and the third expansion member.
