<p>PURPOSE: To propagate individual plants to a large scale from sterilely grown small segments by separating particles which may be redifferentiated to plant bodies from the aq. suspension of ground plants and transferring these particles onto supporting media supplied with nutritious food, thereby allowing the particles to grow. CONSTITUTION: The plant tissues are ground by a homogeneizer 1 to form the aq. suspension. This suspension is sent to a separator 2 where the particles redifferentiated to the plant bodies (propagules) from the splinters of the cells are separated by decantation and/or filtration. The coarse particles are returned by a conduit 2a to the homogeneizer 1. The fine particles are sent through a conduit 2b to a culture vessel 3 where the particles are propagated. The particles are thereafter sent through a fluid switch 4 to an inoculator 6. The particles are transferred from this inoculator 6 to the many discrete growth zones 8 on the supporting media supplied with the nutritious food for plant growth and the propagules are groven. Next, the growth zones 8 and the small plant bodies grown thereon are separated by a separator 11, by which the plants are propagated to the large scale.</p> |
