PURPOSE:To obtain an active oxygen eliminator, containing an ethylenediamine based chelate compound as an active ingredient and capable of eliminating active oxygen which is considered as a noxious substance. CONSTITUTION:An active oxygen eliminator containing at least one of com pound expressed by formula I (R<1>-R<4> are lower alkoxycarbonyl,carbamoyl or pyridyl), formula II (Py is pyridyl) and formula III as an active ingredient. The active oxygen, especially hydroxy radicals are causative substances exhibiting various toxicities in living bodies. This eliminator is effective in treating chronic rheumatism, collagen disease, chronic dermatopathy, arterioscle rosis, drug toxicosis, radiation, ultraviolet ray damage, etc. This active oxygen eliminator is preferably prepared by, e.g. dissolving the above-mentioned com pound in a vegetable oil (e.g. soybean oil), forming the resultant solution, together with soybean phospholipid or egg yolk phospholipid into an oil-in-water type microemulsion and providing a fatty emulsion containing the compound expressed by the formula in lipid microspheres. |
