The production system comprises several stations and each station comprises a machine table for optional reception of devices such as guiding, positioning, arresting, feeding, sensing or coding devices. The machine tables and the feeding, guiding, positioning, arresting and coding devices are constructed as mutually interchangeable modules which may be releasably coupled at desired work stations. Conveying, deflecting, or manual work station modules equipped with reception devices for the device modules are arranged and constructed in the same manner.
