An axial piston pump of high pressure type comprises a driving shaft (12), a piston (4), a cam driving mechanism (6, 7, 8, 14, 19) disposed between the driving shaft and the piston for converting the rotary motion of the driving shaft to a reciprocating motion of the piston. An inlet valve (18) is disposed to open and close in response to the movement of the piston and an outlet (29) for the medium being pumped is provided in the pump housing, enclosing the pump. The cam driving mechanism comprises two cam pieces (6, 19). One of said cam pieces (19) is attached in a non-rotary way to the end of the driving shaft facing the piston and the other cam piece (6) is fastened to the end of the piston facing the driving shaft. The surfaces facing each other of the two cam pieces present cam surfaces (7, 14), designed to form axial roll cams in a circular race for a ball (8) disposed between said cam pieces. |
