PURPOSE:To enhance the deodorizing efficiency of a malodor such as ammonia and to enhance durability, by using a compound containing a cuprous ion bonded to a cyano group. CONSTITUTION:This deodorant contains a compound containing a cuprous ion bonded to a cyano group or bonded thereto in a complex form. The cuprous ion and the cyano group are bonded in a complex form by heat-treating an aqueous solution containing a cyano group-containing compound, a cupric ion compound and a reducing agent. The content of the cuprous ion is pref. set to about 100ppm or more. The shape of the deodorant can be arbitrarily selected from a liquid, a gel, a powder or a molded body by the selection of the cyano group-containing compound in matching relation to a use purpose. As the cupric compound, an inorg. salt having a cupric ion such as copper sulfate, copper nitrate or cupric chloride is used and, as the reducing agent, hydroxylamine sulfate, ferrous sulfate or furfural is used. |
