PURPOSE:To miniaturize an external light pulse compressing device, by putting pulse laser beam components emitted from all optical waveguides of an optical waveguide array wherein the optical waveguides have a specific difference in overall length together into a single light beam. CONSTITUTION:The optical waveguide array 3 on which scattered light is incident consists of the individual optical waveguides (L2-LN), which have the specific difference in overall length in order. Scattered light components which pass through the respective different optical waveguides are delayed relatively on projection end surface and all the scattered optical components can be projected from the respective optical waveguides of the optical waveguide array 3 at nearly the same time. Pulse laser beam projected by an optical multiplexing element 4 consisting of an optical fiber multiplexer and a thin film optical strip line multiplexer is time-compressed by the optical waveguide array 3, so the light is laser beam with narrow pulse width. Consequently, the optical pulse compressing device can be made smaller in size than before. |
