Ball is made from a spherical core and twelve identical, pentagonal sheets of facing material as follows. Adhesive is applied to the core, each facing sheet has a barrier layer resistant to adhesive on its outer side, and is applied with more adhesive on its inner side lightly to the core, located only at the centre point of each sheet. The sheets are now aligned so that their edges are in correct relationship but do not touch one another or the core. Light radial pressure is now applied over the entire surface, moulding the twelve sheets to the curvature of the core and bonding them to it, but the sheets do not touch one another at the edges, so that seam ducts remain. |
