The invention relates to a single- or two-seat light helicopter, with two coaxial rotors, in which the mechanical system 7 providing the drive to the two rotors 1, 2 in opposite directions is placed at the level of the rotor hubs at the peak of a non-rotating structural mast 8. It includes one or two engines 5, specific, simplified flight controls and a lightened gyroscopic stabiliser 9. The mast may be folded for storage or towing on the road. This helicopter can be produced economically, and is intended for leisure, for sport, for flying schools, for aeriel surveillance and for light aircraft tasks. <IMAGE>
