PURPOSE:To improve image quality by electrostatically charging a photosensitive body contg. a carrier transfer material in a carrier generating layer consisting of a phthalocyanine compd., then forming an electrostatic latent image thereon by irradiation of semiconductor laser light and impressing a DC bias voltage thereto, thereby executing the reversal development of the electrostatic latent image. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body which contains the carrier generating material 10 consisting of the phthalocyanine compd. in the carrier generating layer 2, contains said material 10 at <=1/2 the ratio to the content of a binder material, has <=1mum film thickness of the carrier generating layer 2 and contains the carrier transfer material in the carrier generating layer 2 is used. The electrostatic charge which is 500-900V in the absolute value of the electrostatic charge potential is applied to this photosensitive body and thereafter, the electrostatic latent image is formed thereon by the irradiation of the semiconductor laser light. A DC bias voltage having the absolute value lower by 0-200V than the absolute value of the electrostatic charge potential is impressed to the photosensitive body to execute the reversal development of the electrostatic latent image.
