An internal combustion engine with fuel injection has a power unit which comprises the cylinder block (1), the cylinder heads (2), the pistons, the connecting rods, the crankshaft (3) and their bearings (4). The said power unit has a capsule (5) surrounding it from below into the vicinity of the cylinder head, which capsule is connected to the power unit by way of structure-borne noise insulating support elements and forms an oil-tight chamber. The injection pump (7) is arranged outside the capsule (5). In order to eliminate problems with the drive of the injection pump (7), although this is situated outside the oil-tight capsule (5), the power unit has a lateral bracket (8), also enclosed by the capsule (5), on which bracket the injection pump (7) is flange mounted. At the same time the injection pump (7) with a neck (9) passes through a flexibly sealed capsule opening (10). The pump drive shaft (7a) is led through the neck (9) and the bracket (8) in the capsule (5). <IMAGE>
