The invention relates to a process for the disposal of asbestos and serpentine residues formed in asbestos production or mining. In this process, the residues are processed into cement or forsterite and can thus be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way instead of the hitherto customary storage which pollutes the environment, and can at the same time be usefully recycled to a further application. The invention furthermore relates to a cement produced from the asbestos or serpentine residues formed in asbestos production or mining.
