PURPOSE:To prevent a sticking phenomenon and a thermal head from being contaminated, by providing a heat-softenable layer on one side of a base, and providing a backing layer comprising a resin containing a repeating unit of a specified structure on the other side. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin, a heat-fusible substance and a coloring agent are dissolved or dispersed in a solvent to prepare a coating liquid, which is applied to one side of a base such as a paper and a synthetic resin film, followed by drying to provide a heat-softenable layer. Separately, a resin containing a repeating unit having a group of formula I (each of R<1>-R<6> is independently a 1-5C alkyl or hydrogen) is dissolved or dispersed in a solvent to prepare a coating liquid, which is applied to the other side of the base, followed by drying to provide a backing layer, thereby obtaining a thermal transfer recording medium. |
