PURPOSE:To reduce distribution deviation and connection loss by combining two plastic optical fiber arrays of plastic optical fibers with a mixing plate in a specific shape. CONSTITUTION:The optical start coupler is equipped with the mixing plate 2 connected to the optical fiber arrays 1 of plural optical fibers and the mixing plate 2 is composed of a molding of a transparent polymer. Then it is a plate type body which is >=5 times as long as the array width of the plastic optical fibers, 0.8-1.2 times as long as the optical fiber diameter, and 1.0-1.1 times as wide as the plastic optical fiber array width. Consequently, the start coupler for plastic optical fibers have simple structure, low loss, and good branching performance, and is easily manufactured and reliable for a long period. |
