摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the operability of an engine in which the timing of ignition is controlled in accordance with a new opening degree of an exhaust recirculating valve with a predetermined time delay the opening degree is changed, by compensating the time delay in a direction in which a variation in engine operating condition decreases, when the opening degree is changed. CONSTITUTION:In an engine in which an exhaust recirculation control means MC controls the opening degree of an exhaust gas recirculation valve MB, an ignition timing control means MD controls the ignition timing in accordance with at least the opening degree of the exhaust recirculating valve MB. A delay means ME controls the ignition timing in accordance with a new opening degree with a predetermined time delay after the time when the opening degree of the exhaust recirculating valve MB is changed. In this arrangement, there is provided an operating condition detecting means MF for detecting the operating condition of an engine MA including knocking, engine torque and the like. Further, when the opening degree of an exhaust gas recirculation valve MB is changed, a time delay compensating means MG compensates the above- mentioned predetermined time in a direction in which a variation in the operating condition of the engine MA is decreased.
