PURPOSE:To obtain an external preparation having safely and effectively inhibitory effects on melanin formation, containing liquiritin, an extract of Licorice root of medicinal plant of the family Leguminosae as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An external preparation which contains liquiritin obtained by extracting Licorice root with a lower alcohol and then with n-butanol or an extract or Licorice root as an active ingredient and uses inhibitory action of liquiritin on melanin formation. The external preparation includes quasi-drugs useful for external use such as ointment, emulsion, lotion and liniment besides cosmetic such as cream, toilet lotion and pack. The amount of the active ingredient blended is 0.06-6wt.% in the case of using liquiritin and about 0.1-10wt.% in the case of using the extract of Licorice root. |
