A multi-channel antilock system includes a first channel having means (18, 19) for sensing the velocity of a first wheel and valve means (23) for controlling the braking effort applied to said first wheel in response to the rate of change of velocity of that wheel and a second channel having means (18', 19') for sensing the velocity of a second wheel and valve means (23') for controlling braking effort applied to said second wheel in response to the rate of change of velocity of the second wheel. Control means (60) is associated with each channel for effecting reduction in the braking effort in that channel when deceleration of the associated wheel falls below a predetermined value. The control means (61, 62, 63, 64) and (61', 62', 63', 64') of the first and second channels are interconnected; so that when an antilock cycle is triggered in the first channel, the valve means (23') associated with the second channel will be activated for a predetermined period to cause a transient reduction in braking effort in the second channel, increase in braking effort in the second channel being resumed after said period; and vice versa. |
