Due to its brittleness, superconducting ceramic material cannot be subjected to any mechanical deformation in order to produce more or less complicated components therefrom. It has, furthermore, the disadvantage that no sufficiently high current carrying capacity is present. This problem can be solved by means of the method according to the invention by alternately applying a multiplicity of extremely thin superconducting and normally conducting layers (2) onto a carrier (1) which is shaped in accordance with the shape of the superconducting component, a thicker layer (3) of normally conducting material and an insulating layer (4) following after a number of these thin layers (2). <IMAGE>
