PURPOSE:To conduct a low-cost recording, by a construction wherein, a hydrogen ion concentration changing pattern according to an image signal is formed on a fluid ink layer on an ink holding body, and the ink layer is given tackiness according to the pattern to be transferred to a transfer medium. CONSTITUTION:A fluid ink 2 in an ink vessel 3 having fluid film-forming properties is free of tackiness, but is capable of being made tacky due to change in pH. As an ink holding roll 1 rotates in a direction of an arrow A, the ink is carried in a direction of an arrow D while being held on the surfaces as an ink layer 2a and applied with a pattern-form voltage according to an image signal at a signal applying position abutting against a recording electrode 5. Then, according to a pH change due to an electrochemical reaction, tackiness is selectively imparted to the fluid ink 2. Thereafter, the ink is further carried in the direction of the arrow D until it reaches an ink transfer position of a transfer medium 6 on a platen 4. According to the tackiness selectively imparted, the ink is transferred on the transfer medium 6, which is being fed in a direction of an arrow C, to form an ink pattern 21. |
