In a road-parallel traffic information system which transmits optical information signals from a transmitter, the transmitter is arranged in a commercially available road marking post containing a reflection body. The transmitter can be provided with visual concealing means. Thus, there is the possibility of arranging the transmitter in an visually concealed manner so that when the transmitter is inactive the driver is not given the deceptive feeling of security.
