A method is proposed for testing the quality of a package (1) in which an object (2) is contained which is sensitive to impact or vibration. The impact acceleration in the direction of the three axes (X, Y, Z) is measured by using, e.g. up to three acceleration pick ups (4, 5, 3) which are arranged, e.g., in the direction of the axes (X, Y, Z). The package (1) is raised to a specified height and dropped under the control of a triggering mechanism. The impact acceleration is measured using the acceleration pick ups (3, 4, 5) and fed via electric connections (7) and a signal transducer (8) to a memory (9) where the acceleration signals can be filed and read out serially for recording purposes by an X-Y recorder (10) at a time which can be determined by the operating staff. The recording can be used to determine the impact acceleration on the individual axes. It is to be borne in mind in this case that the impact acceleration in the X- and Y-directions is to be small with respect to the impact acceleration in the Z-direction. The magnitude of the lateral (transverse) accelerations in relation to the magnitude of the direct gravitational acceleration is a measure of the quality of the face drop. <IMAGE> |
