NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance SF2425 having the following physicochemical properties as hydrochloride. Appearance; colorless powder. Melting point; 124-127 deg.C. Elementary analysis (%); C, 44.39; H, 9.49; N, 20.33; Cl, 13.60. FD-MS spectrum; m/z 527 (M+H). Molecular formula; C25H54N10O2.3HCl.2H2O. Specific rotatory power [alpha]D<22>=+14.8 deg. (C=1.0, H2O). Solubility; readily soluble in water, methanol and ethanol and sparingly soluble in chloroform, benzene, acetone and ethyl acetate. Color reaction; positive to Sakaguchi's and Greig.Leaback's reagents and negative to ninhydrin and 10% sulfuric acid reagent. Basic, etc. USE:An antibacterial agent against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PREPARATION:A strain of the genus Streptomyces, such as Streptomyces sp. SF2425 (FERM P-9412), is cultivated, preferably at 25-30 deg.C for 1-7 days by a submerged culture method. |
