The invention relates to a time indicator device comprising a container 1 for a medium, for example a liquid, at least one side of which is transparent, and which incorporates apparatuses 2 for producing a flow to the container 1, or which incorporates an electronically controlled column scale, the time indication being effected with the aid of the surface 7 of the medium 4 or the said column scale. The object of the invention is to indicate the passage of time in the hourglass using a method which is known per se, i.e. through motion of a liquid or easily movable substance, but to divide the measured time period into clearly distinguishable parts. According to the invention, the time indicator device incorporates a plurality of mutually adjacent containers 1, 6, 8, at least one side of which is transparent, and the instruments 2, 3 for distributing the medium 4 to the successive mutually adjacent containers 1, 6, 8, or alternatively it incorporates an electronically controlled column scale, the time indication being able to be divided into two dimensions, the horizontal one of which is the number value of a unit of time which is determined by a container or column scale. <IMAGE>
