PURPOSE:To impart error display easy to be understood by a user without raising manufacturing cost, by printing an error massage using a remaining normally operable printing mechanism even when one printing system becomes non-printable. CONSTITUTION:When a toner absence error, a BD error and an error such as developing process abnormality are detected in a printing process by detectors 7-9, said errors are informed to a control part 10 by interruption. Then, a printing system generating an error is changed over to a normally operable printing system and a page is fed and a proper error message is selected from a ROM 11 having an error message stored therein and written in the page memory 2 of a printing system generating no error to be printed. Thereafter, the printing operation of a printing apparatus is stopped to stand by until an error generating cause is removed and normal printing becomes possible. |
