<p>An improved bearing designed for use in a link assembly of a coupling assembly used for coupling a first member to a second member in an aircraft is disclosed. The bearing comprises a plurality of alternating layers of a resilient, elastomeric material and a non-extensible material coaxially formed around a common axis. Each of the innermost and outermost layers of is adapted to be coupled to a respective one of the members, and has at least a center portion in which each of the inner radial and outer radial surfaces of the center portion of each innermost and outermost layers is formed as a surface of revolution around the axis with a curvature having an axial cross-sectional shape defined by different centers of curvature so as to reduce the compression induced shear strain carried by the innermost and outermost layers when the layers are subjected to compression induced shear.</p> |
